Public Information Session: Charlottetown Thermal Generating Station Decommissioning

The Charlottetown Thermal Generating Station (CTGS) consists of four heavy fuel‑fired (Bunker C) thermal generation units. This heavy‑fuel fired thermal generation equipment has reached the end of its useful life. Maritime Electric is proposing to retire and decommission the thermal generating units at the CTGS.

Maritime Electric is holding a public information session to describe the project, including proposed demolition methodology, environmental considerations and reasons why this project is necessary.

The Company has submitted an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for approval with the PEI Department of Environment, Energy and Climate Action. The EIS is available for public viewing at the Department of Environment, Energy and Climate Action and on the department website.

Company representatives will be present to discuss the project and answer any questions.
